Most plans suggest that a person will lose a lot of weight and this might be so in the first week but this is just water weight, and when the dieter goes back to a normal eating plan, they will gain all of this weight back. Too much weight should not be lost fast because this will not give the body enough time to shrink accordingly and can cause the skin to sag.

The body will become dependent of the laxatives if they are used constantly and will not be able to function without them. Also eating foods that are not high in fat and eating smaller portions will help a person lose weight. While some people may fast for religious or cultural purposes, others may fast in order to lose weight. When a person is done fasting and goes back to their regular diet, they will gain more weight than they lost because the slower metabolism will not be able to process food as quickly.

Crash diets are only a temporary fix and as soon as the person is done with the diet they will almost immediately gain all of the weight back. Crash diets are also unhealthy because they deprive the body of much needed vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. It is best to avoid any type of crash dieting because it is not healthy. 

Fad Diets

Fad diets are those that promise instant results and are very popular but they do not last very long because people clearly become aware, that this is not the way to lose weight and keep weight off. Fad diets offer temporary fixes and are so low in calories that a person is not capable of staying on this type of diet for too long and will gain the weight back once they are off the diet.

This is called body dysmorphic disorder and it is when a person does not have a clear image of what they really look like and feel as if they are deformed and ugly.
