Conflict Resolution Overview

Conflict resolution is a form of therapy or interpersonal diplomacy directed at trying to alleviate tension between two parties in a given environment.  Conflict resolution can play a key role in just about any personal environment, including home, school, work, court, government, and most certainly in mental health.  The primary goal in conflict resolution is to allow for those who have the conflict to resolve it for themselves, so as not to feel that a resolution has been forced upon them.

Conflict Resolution Background

Conflict resolution in therapy is often driven toward a therapist working as a third person who guides two parties, which can be family members or people in a relationship, into trying to resolve their conflicts by allowing for the free flow of communication between the two parties.  Conflict resolution training is devoted to instilling attitudes and methodologies in professionals whose job places them in environments that will experience interpersonal conflict.

Conflict Resolution Strategies

Conflict resolution strategies are usually pretty basic techniques that one may use in any situation of tension and antagonism, but may easily be forgotten when emotions are running unnecessarily high.  Most of the most fundamtental conflict resolution skills are things as basic as speaking and listening, but the problem is that they sometimes require great character to be carried through properly.

Conflict Resolution in the Workplace

Conflict resolution in the workplace is among the more common places where one may have to employ the methodologies of conflict resolution.  Conflicts between employees can often lead to hostile work environments, so it is important to use effective conflict resolution techniques and conflict resolution activities to maintain a productive and comfortable workplace for all concerned.
