A Lyme
disease rash is the result of the bite of a deer tick carrying the
disease-causing bacteria. Many tick bites can lead to a rash, but Lyme disease
is unique in the appearance of the rash. The Lyme disease rash appears as a red
bulls-eye at the site of the bite, with inflamed skin forming rings around
healthy skin. While most cases simply present the rash at area where the person
was bitten, the Lyme disease rash can spread to other areas of the body along
with the progression of the infection over time.
