An operating room is where surgical procedures take place. These rooms will typically very spacious and well lit, and contain various types of surgery instruments and equipment such as IV drip machines, anesthesia machines, and various types of surgical tools.

An operating room nurse will often times directly assist the surgeon in charge during a particular surgical procedure. This can entail the sterilization and passing of surgery instruments, assist during the actual surgery by holding instruments in place, and the clean up after the procedure.

Operating Room Technician

A operating room technician is a person that is part of a surgical team, whose main responsibility is to aid the completion of a successful surgery. An operating room technician may often times be asked to sterilize equipment, prepare patients for surgery, and monitor equipment during the operation itself.

Operations will vary in various ways, though certain procedures must be done before any kind of surgical procedure is to be done. Such actions may include the sterilization of the operating room and equipment, the preparation of the patient, and the preparation of the surgery staff.
