Elliptical Exercise Equipment Cardio

Elliptical exercise equipment is a relatively recent addition to the exercise market in terms of the machines available in gyms and homes. These devices offer both a cardiovascular workout while providing mild resistance to build muscle tone in the arms and legs. Despite the range of benefits that these machines offer, they typically fall under the category of cardio exercise equipment. The reason that elliptical exercise equipment have the name of elliptical is due to the motion of the gears at the rear of the machine which move in an elliptical shape. This allows for continued movement and flow of the exercise to ease the strain on the muscles and back.

Many people that once used treadmills have opted for elliptical exercise equipment as a result of its associated benefits. These pieces of cardio exercise equipment allow people to program their desired workouts into the machine's computer to increase angle, resistance, distance and other factors to monitor time and calories burned.  As a result, gyms often carry both treadmills and ellipticals as cardio exercise equipment based on the desired workout of gym members. Treadmills allow people to run at different programmable paces and inclines, while elliptical exercise equipment are controlled by the movement of a person's arms and legs to offer more resistance and a fuller workout for the arms, legs, abdominal muscles and the back.

Ellipticals and other cardio exercise equipment are available at sports equipment stores for home use as well as being found in many gyms.
