Hernia in Women

A hernia caused when part of an organ bulges through the tissue that contains the specific organ. This is commonly caused due to loose muscles and is typically seen in near the intestine and abdomen.  A major risk of hernias is a shortage of blood supply and blood flow. Hernias in women are common and can be determined by different symptoms. Some of the symptoms do include a visual bulge, pain, stomach issues, or urinary problems. A bulge or bump is caused by the organ pushing through the tissues and causing swelling. The pain caused by a female hernia can vary and change suddenly. The pain is derived from the tissue being stretch and torn and is normally felt directly where the hernia is occurring. Irritation and nerve damage from the hernia can also result in pain. Stomach issues associated with hernia in women can include nausea, vomiting, and constipation. This is caused when the intestine is trapped by or blocked by the hernia itself. Urinary problems can be common with female hernia if the hernia is blocking the urinary track. Urinary problems can include urinary tract infections, bladder infections, bladder stones, urinary burning, and frequent urination. Hernia in women may also trigger painful intercourse.

There are several different types of female hernia. The first type, inguinal hernia in women is commonly unnoticed and may not be discovered until a routine doctor’s visit. This hernia, if large enough, may be felt in the lower abdomen around the pelvic bone. Women with this type of female hernia may notice pain or discomfort when coughing. The second type is umbilical hernia in women. This female hernia is normal discovered during childhood and will heal on its own. However it can be onset during adulthood. Whether found in a child or in an adult, this female hernia is located on the navel and can be felt if you gently press the belly button. The third type of female hernia is Hiatal hernia in women. Oddly enough, the most common symptom for this type of female hernia is acid reflux or heart burn. This can be uncomfortable and irritating, and is thought to be triggered near one esophagus. The final female hernia commonly found is Femoral hernia in women. This can be quickly noticed by a bulge in either the abdominal or groin areas. Generally women will experience stomach issues including vomiting, constipation and nausea. It is very common for females to obtain this type of hernia during pregnancy.

Signs and symptoms for all hernias in women can be painful or uncomfortable. Though the bulge or swelling of the protrusion may go unnoticed, if you are feeling slight pain or pressure during every day actives such as bending, coughing, sneezing, or lifting it is recommended to visit your doctor. Hernia can cause a blockage that could result in much more sever conditions such as poor circulation and blood issues. Normally, to treat any type of hernia surgery is required and it i recommended to avoid any straining until surgery has been completed.
