Optician Overview

Optician Background

Opticians are medical professionals responsible for providing eye care. The most common method of treatment used by an optician is to develop the eyeglasses or contact lenses to be used for vision correction for patients who experience vision problems. An optician may assist an ophthalmologist or an optometrist.

Optician Jobs

The optician salary is likely to change drastically in the coming years. Part of the reason that optician jobs may be especially prone to salary changes is since it is expected that opticians will be in greater demand as the median age of the population increases. However, the change in optician salary depends on how many opticians are available to fill the optician jobs.

Eye Care

One of the most advanced kinds of eye care is laser eye care. This kind of eye care may be known as LASIK, LASEK, epi-LASIK, or PRK.
