Male pattern
baldness is a common hair condition that affects millions of men and women
every year. The condition, which is also known as a receding hairline, is far
more common in men, and typically arises from predetermined hereditary
characteristics. Although there are many forms of male pattern baldness, each
propitiated by a unique set of circumstances, the most common form of hair loss
is a progressive thinning condition called androgenic alopecia--the scientific
term for a receding hairline. This condition occurs in adult male human beings,
and involves the loss of a portion of the hair from the head, and is held
separate from complete baldness.
The typical pattern of a receding hairline is experienced in a male who
possesses excessive hair thinning towards the top of his head. As the hair
thins on top, the front of the scalp also diminishes, giving the appearance of
an elongated forehead or a horseshoe pattern of hair loss. A receding hairline,
or progressive hair loss in a male is typically associated with a genetic
predisposition, although there are numerous lifestyle choices that can augment
one chances of becoming bald. Malnourishment, side effects of prescription
medication, a non-related medical condition, or an abnormal amount of stress
are also factors that are common in the acceleration of a receding hairline.
Although these variables may increase the probability or quicken the death of a
hair follicle, the most glaring and likely reason for the presence of a
receding hairline is attributed to genetics and hereditary traits. Dissimilar
to common notions, male pattern baldness or a receding hairline is not solely
dependent on one portion of the family tree, but instead, the entire family. As
a result of the conditions prevalence there are many forms of receding hairline
treatment. Procerin, Rogaine, or any DHT blockers are the most effective forms
of receding hairline treatment. A receding hairline treatment will either
attempt to regenerate hair follicles through stimulation, or prevent further
hair loss through blocking hormones that percipitate hair loss.
